Client Overview
A large, privately owned construction company, established over a century ago, is among the region’s leading construction firms. Operating nationwide, the company specialises in delivering a diverse range of commercial, residential, and infrastructure projects. Renowned for its innovative approach and commitment to sustainability, it employs over 1,600 people and maintains high standards of safety and environmental responsibility.
The Challenge
This construction company faced significant data management hurdles that inhibited efficiency and collaboration. With multiple repositories and websites storing essential documents, employees lacked a unified content management system (CMS). Consequently, they often accessed outdated information or struggled to locate relevant data. Manual processes, primarily using Microsoft Excel and scattered file repositories, further complicated decision-making.
To support the firm’s strategic vision for continuous improvement and community enrichment, the new CMS needed to:
- Serve as a single source of truth for all project-related information
- Streamline information sharing and ensure data accuracy
- Reinforce robust internal workflows and data governance
- Build user trust through consistent, up-to-date content for 1,600 users across multiple locations
- Integrate with existing systems while safeguarding data security and compliance
Our Solution
To address these challenges, the project team implemented Salesforce under an Outsourced Service Provider (OSP) model. By leveraging Salesforce Experience Cloud, Service Cloud, Sales Cloud, and Marketing Cloud:
- Data from nine separate silos was consolidated onto a single platform
- The organisation gained robust CMS functionality, simplifying knowledge management
- Marketing and campaign management were streamlined across various business units
- An internal ecommerce site for staff tools and uniforms was developed
- A service management system was introduced for IT, marketing, and ecommerce
The Outcome
Following agile sprint planning and close collaboration with the client, the entire build was completed within three months. The team maximised out-of-the-box Salesforce capabilities, reducing the need for custom integrations. This approach:
- Preserved the organisation’s branding and established business processes
- Removed technical debt, simplifying future upgrades and increasing cloud readiness
- Improved return on investment (ROI) while reducing ongoing support requirements
Furthermore, any residual custom integrations were upgraded to the latest development frameworks, resulting in enhanced security, performance, and compliance. The newly implemented CMS and integrated platform advanced the client’s operational excellence while laying the groundwork for continued digital transformation.
